The in-house, on the ground real estate experience available to the business through its pan-European platform together with its market leading information and data management systems, ensure that M7 can maximise value. The Role We are looking for a highly skilled 3rd Line Engineer with a strong background in supporting IT infrastructure and security operations to join us on a 12 month fixed-term contract. In this role, you will work closely with the IT Infrastructure & Security Manager and IT Analyst, contributing deep technical expertise across a broad range of Microsoft technologies — including Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365 Office Suite, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, and Windows Server environments. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of core infrastructure and security systems that underpin operations across the entire business. This is a hands-on technical role, ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems and driving forward IT improvements. As a senior escalation point, you will tackle high-level support issues, particularly those related to advanced Windows troubleshooting, endpoint management, and security configuration. Your input will be crucial in strengthening our security posture, using both Microsoft’s advanced toolsets and industry best practices. Responsibilities • Responsible for managing IT infrastructure operations in a performant, resilient, compliant and secure manner while providing high availability of services • Manage and establish priorities for maintenance, design, development and analysis of entire infrastructure systems inclusive of LANs, WANs, internet, security and wireless implementations • Improve infrastructure costs, performance and end user satisfaction by implementing IT continuous improvement programs • Working with the Service Desk, manage the desktop computing environment to ensure that laptops, PC’s and other access devices are built and maintained to high standards of performance and security • Define system performance SLA's and ensure they are met • Maintain infrastructure diagrams and documentation for all M7 locations and hosted/managed services • Design and implementation of patch management routines for all server, system and end user computing devices, ensuring end user disruption is minimalised • Monitor business critical systems. • Install, configure and support new and existing servers and network infrastructure. • Develop and lead the replacement of infrastructure at end of life. • Design and management of all backup and recovery activities covering data and systems • Conduct testing and analysis of all components of network and server infrastructure components. • Execution of DR tests as planned and agreed. • Work alongside the Service Desk as escalation point for incidents or problems, irrespective of priority • Work closely with the Service Desk and other specialists to ensure a timely, robust and comprehensive service transition process for new products • Ensure delivery of individual and team projects (where appropriate) allocated within aggressive delivery times. • Oversee operational costs, conduct near along with long-term financial estimates for expanded functionality and user base. • Provide in depth technical expertise for both tactical and operational initiatives • Participate in IT strategy planning activities • Mitigate, monitor and manage infrastructure related risks • Manage strategic relationships with key IT product and service providers • Occasional travel to M7 offices (including European offices) required Essential Skills/Qualities • Able to demonstrate the ability to undertake the above responsibilities • Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based • A passion for Service Improvement • Minimum of 5 years' experience in IT, with a strong focus on Microsoft technologies including Intune, Purview, Exchange, and the Microsoft 365 Office suite. • Strong experience with backup technologies, including both on-premises and cloud based solutions. • Proven ability to design, configure, and document robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues using a methodical and analytical approach. Excellent knowledge of the following technologies: · Microsoft Office 365 (including Exchange Online, One Drive for Business, MS Teams and Sharepoint), Active Directory (including AAD & AADS), · Good knowledge of Network appliances, including switches, routers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi · Good experience domain management systems including DNS & DHCP · Good Experience in Azure, Entra ID, conditional access, Defender endpoint, Mimecast, FortiGate, Papercut Hive · Understanding of network management systems covering monitoring & traffic prioritisation • Strong self-management skills • Understanding of ITIL practices • Ability to think logically and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to manage internal and external projects from inception to completion • Skill in conceptualising creative solutions as well as documenting them and presenting them to senior management • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Willingness to support and mentor junior staff • Excellent customer facing/customer service skills • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines • Able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility including out of hours working • Excellent organisational skills • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information • Self-motivation and able to take responsibility • Able to manage and prioritise tasks and time efficiently • Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks This description reflects the core activities of the role but is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties within the department may be required in addition to changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time.
