Job Description
As a Junior School Care Assistant you will work with Junior School children in our dedicated school care facilities. This is a rewarding position to support children in a variety of activities around normal school hours.
Key Responsibilities
* To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional and social care for children placed in The Hub.
* To give support to other personnel within The Hub.
* The adhere to current policy and practice within the Junior School.
Key Duties
* To assist in the formulation and delivery of a programme of activities suitable to the new age range of children attending The Hub.
* To be aware of children with specific needs or difficulties, and offer appropriate support, and relevant developmental opportunities.
* To support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
* To attend staff meetings and training courses as and when required.
* To show sympathy and understanding to those children whose problems may includes sickness, emotional upsets and accidents, and respond calmly to all emergencies.
* Ensure the planning and execution of art, craft and other activities.
* To supervise the completion of homework, participating in activities both individually and collectively.
* To prepare and supervise serving of tea and other snacks where appropriate.
* To treat with confidentiality all internal records and discussions with staff and parents.
* To undertake other duties as may be requested from time to time.
Desired Criteria
* Recognised childcare qualification.
* Previous experience of working with young children in a similar setting.
* Good standard of general education.
* Previous experience of working with children, preferably in a formal setting.
* Understanding the needs of children within the relevant age group.
* Able to communicate across a range of people including children, colleagues and parents.
* Have some create skills to be able to deliver activities appropriate to the age group.
* Able to work effectively as part of a small team.
