Responsibilities
* Work in a fast‑paced retail environment, handling a variety of tasks
* Take ownership of duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be available to customers, listening to them and ensuring they leave the store with what they came for
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback to the team
* Guide and support colleagues in‑store, ensuring a safe workplace and shopping environment
* Maintain a strong understanding of store performance and assist managers in delivering actions that improve the store’s operations
* Lead from the front, setting a great example for colleagues in everything you do
* Support colleagues to deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks
* Open and close the store, completing duty cover and making appropriate decisions for safety
* Act as the go‑to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day‑to‑day queries
* Ensure the store is always clean, tidy, and well‑presented
* Support managers in coordinating seasonal, community and charity events
* Contribute to a positive and inclusive team atmosphere that encourages everyone to perform at their best
* Provide exceptional customer service, listening to customers and putting them first in everything you do
* Keep the team informed and up to speed on communications, changes and updates
* Stay knowledgeable about store performance and uncover opportunities to simplify operations
* Coordinate store improvements and remove obstacles that hinder great service
* Follow health and safety routines and procedures, ensuring colleagues do the same
* Recognise and celebrate teammates delivering great service
* Build strong, long‑lasting relationships with colleagues to create an inclusive team culture
* Communicate clearly using a variety of methods to keep the team well‑informed
* Take the lead and oversee the store in the absence of the manager
* Make flexible decisions and handle change to benefit customers and colleagues
* Motivate the team to deliver beyond expectations
* Remain curious, constantly searching for ideas and opportunities to serve customers, communities and the planet better each day
Qualifications
* Minimum age 18 or over
* Strong leadership and coaching skills
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a retail setting
* Motivated, flexible and comfortable with change
* Ability to coordinate and manage store improvements and events
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late evenings if required
Pay starts at £15.59 per hour, with possible increase to £16.86 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply based on location.
You will be expected to work a minimum of 12 hours per week, with up to 16 guaranteed hours for new colleagues.
