Job Description:
MCS Group is delighted to be working with a large public sector employer in County Antrim to find an Environmental Health Officer to join their team. This role offers a 4-day working week, a competitive salary, and the opportunity to secure a longer contract. Location: Ballymena. Contract Length: 9 months with potential extension. Salary: £38.5k (Pro-rata).
The Role:
* Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments, and activities across various environmental health functions, including public health, food safety, and housing.
* Take enforcement actions in line with legislation, including serving statutory notices and preparing for legal proceedings.
* Act as an expert witness, providing advice and reports for legal, planning, and public health matters.
* Collaborate with external agencies, businesses, and working groups to support environmental health goals.
* Contribute to planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours responses.
* Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, support training, and perform administrative duties.
The Person:
* Minimum of a degree in Environmental Health or qualified by experience.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
* At least 1 year of experience in a public sector role.
* Knowledge of current Environmental Health legislation.
* Stakeholder engagement skills.
* Full and current driver's license and access to transport.
