Production Supervisor
To assist the Production Manager in the efficient operation of an assigned area, ensuring targets for production, quality, cost, delivery, technical standards, safety, and human resources are met. The role is responsible for the day-to-day management of people within production to meet customer requirements and company objectives.
The position requires supporting and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, quality and environmental standards, and all other relevant company policies and procedures.
Production Supervisor's Responsibilities
* Train, develop, and mentor new employees using internal quality documentation for production packaging.
* Ensure Health & Safety standards, including PPE requirements, are maintained throughout the facility at all times.
* Lead by example to motivate the team, setting clear objectives and responsibilities to provide direction and focus.
* Promote high standards through personal example and ensure team members understand and meet expectations.
* Work closely with other shift supervisors to ensure effective communication during production handovers.
* Recruit, select, and train employees while developing opportunities for personal growth.
* Complete production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel, prioritizing tasks, monitoring progress, and reporting results in shift production summaries.
* Maintain quality service by enforcing company standards.
* Ensure a safe and clean work environment by applying 6S principles and maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.
* Understand ISOH requirements and oversee or conduct risk assessments within assigned areas.
* Manage, appraise, and motivate team performance while ensuring effective communication.
* Monitor and manage stock levels of raw materials and consumables.
* Act as the main point of contact in the absence of the Production Manager, making decisions within the company reporting structure.
* Monitor attendance, support absence control procedures, and proactively manage staff welfare.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to support company growth.
* Address initial employee issues in line with company policies.
* Provide feedback and recommendations to management to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
* Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Production Supervisor's Specific Requirements
* Ensure efficiencies in all sub-assembly areas.
* Maintain throughput and efficiencies within the print room.
* Induct new employees and temporary staff in accordance with company policy.
* Monitor temporary staff levels to align with production demands.
* Maintain and report on machine utilization, collaborating with the production planner to achieve 80% or greater.
* Conduct contractor safety inductions and issue work permits, ensuring RAMS are in place before work begins.
* Produce and collate risk assessments, safe systems of work, and work instructions in line with company policy.
Production Supervisor's Persons Specification
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes or experience working in a manufacturing environment, Experience of managing people, Quality Focus / Procedures / Systems knowledge, Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation, Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, The ability to lead activities for staff development, Good time management & organisational skills, Confident & Assertive, Excellent Communication skills, Proactive, hands on approach, Drive for results, High level of Integrity & Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
Production Supervisor's Benefits & Hours of Work
Salary: £30k, Hours of work: Mon to Fri 830AM to 430PM, 23 days holidays plus BH, EAP, Life Assurance & Pension
