Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in physical, inorganic and materials chemistry. You will work in the research group of Professor Dmitry Shchukin, Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy, Department of Chemistry, University of Liverpool. This is the joint project between UK funding) and USA (NSF funding). The project is targeted on an ultrasonic manufacturing concept to synthesise hemicellulose-based functional polymers using an ultrasound driven generation of hemicellulose dispersions with controlled dimensions of the colloids followed by polycondensation with 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) and other plant-based monomers. FDCA-based polyesters are closest by thermal and mechanical properties to petroleum-based poly (ethylene terephthalate). The project also includes the encapsulation active materials using ultrasonication methods for encapsulation of active materials for their use in targeted sustainable bioplastics.
