Internal Job Title: QSHE Coordinator (FTC) Business: Lawson Fuses Ltd Location: Ponteland, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK Job Reference No: 4142 Job Purpose: Lawson Fuses Limited (LFL) is seeking a ‘QSHE Coordinator’ for its headquarters located near Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. This is a key role for the business. The role holder will support the QA Manager in delivering the QSHE roadmap as the business continues to develop. Additional aspects of the role include QC and support to other departments and our sister site in India. The main purpose of the role is to support the QA Manager/HSE Coordinator through a busy period of change to ensure on-going compliance with legal and other requirements such as Group policies and ISO Standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate. This role also gives an opportunity to learn, develop and leave a legacy. Business Overview: Lawson Fuses specialises in the design, development and manufacture of low-voltage, high-rupturing capacity (HRC) fuse links and fuse holders. Sold directly and via distributors, applications are suitable for electric and electronic capital equipment, utilities, renewable energy and domestic households. Job Context: Incorporated in 1938, LFL is an established British and global brand that operates in the fuse gear market with a focus on design, development and manufacture of low voltage High Rupture Capacity (HRC) fuse-links and associated fuse holders. LFL’s products are ASTA certified and comply with IEC/BS/ENA standards and accepted throughout the world. With manufacturing facilities based in UK and India, LFL’s global clientele is spread across several countries including (not limited to) UK, Middle East, Africa, India, Malaysia, Australia, South Korea and Hong Kong. With ISO 17025 ASTA certified R&D lab and ASTA certified manufacturing plants, LFL is keen on safety, quality and speed of product delivery. From 2018, LFL is part of Lucy Group which is a diversified international group head quartered in Oxford, UK and operates in multiple sectors including Power Distribution, Smart Lighting, Fuse Gear and Real Estate. Lawson Fuses under the banner of Lucy Group is focusing on accelerated growth of its product line and subsequently the share of the market. The role of QSHE Coordinator will be key on this journey. This vacancy has arisen due internal promotion and is for a fixed term of 1 year. There may be the possibility of extension. Job Dimensions: This is a full-time role based in our Newcastle upon Tyne plant. This role reports to the QA Manager who also coordinates H&S on site. The role will work across the business. There are four dimensions to the role: Redevelop existing management systems and arrangements for including roll out of arrangements to wider business. Ensuring continuation of product and management systems certification. Support transfer of manufacturing and supply chain to sister site. Sales, laboratory, R&D and manufacturing support. This role requires energy, enthusiasm, a desire to learn and the abilities to challenge and influence. We are looking for some from a manufacturing background with exposure to management system activities. The candidate is likely to have come from a QC/QA background. Any exposure to H&S would be beneficial but is not essential. Although a QSHE role, the focus will on quality with some involvement in HSE matters. Key activities of this role will include involvement in the following: Critically reviewing and (re)defining management system processes. Critically reviewing and (re)defining collection and reporting arrangements. Investigating quality issues including non-conforming material from suppliers, issues in production and customer complaints. Audits, inspections and checks/measurements. Preparation and delivery of training material. Key Accountabilities: These will include aiding:- Investigations. Non-conformities throughout the business including audit findings and complaints. Support H&S incidents. Documentation: Process mapping. Drafting/approving/reviewing/issuing. QC: Assessing incoming goods. Measurements to support investigations. Critical review of current arrangements throughout processes. Developing control plans. Audits and checks. Performing internal audits (ISO9001), gap analysis. Supporting internal H&S inspections and regular checks. Assisting with external audits (regulatory, customer). Technical and Administrative Support: Information gathering, analysis of information and data (QHSE). Record keeping. Communication Preparation of reports, delivery of toolbox talks/training material. People: Mentoring, training, supporting. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Minimum: The ideal candidate will have administered management systems in a production environment. Basic understanding of as ISO9001. Exposure to management system activities such control of documents, non-conformities/incidents and corrective actions. Ideally will have administered these processes. Ideally experience of performing internal audits (ISO9001). Process mapping and developing documentation (e.g. control plans, standard operating procedures, basic projects/action plans). Competent with common Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word and ideally Visio. Will be required to undertake relatively simple data manipulation using Excel. Experience of collating data to generate key performance indicators and simple reports. Good written and spoken English. The confidence to present material to an audience e.g. in meetings, delivering toolbox talks and other training. Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings. Competent in simple dimensional and other testing (e.g. micrometers, ohmmeters). Training in the use of a Keyence IM8030T will be provided.
