GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support schools in the Sheffield (S2) area. As a SEMH TA, you will collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that fosters personal growth and academic progress. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning while providing both academic and emotional support. Responsibilities as a SEMH Teaching Assistant : Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, supporting SEMH needs. Promote positive behaviour strategies and emotional resilience. Support teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons. Encourage pupils to develop social skills, confidence, and a positive attitude to learning. Provide consistent guidance, patience, and encouragement to promote progress. Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant : Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable. Strong behaviour management and communication skills. Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and adaptable in challenging situations. A nurturing, supportive, and proactive approach. An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to apply). A CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
