Overview
Principal Consultant - Rail & Transportation at TXM Recruit. TXM Recruit are supporting a rail business to recruit several Rail Engineering Technicians to support the maintenance of a fleet of rail vehicles, carrying out both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
* Perform maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and servicing of rolling stock to a high standard and in line with engineering best practices.
* Work in accordance with technical, operational, and environmental procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and maintenance schedules.
* Follow Fleet Standards documentation, including Depot Maintenance Schedules, Technical Instructions, Job Cards, and other issued materials.
* Support productivity and efficiency initiatives within the maintenance team as directed by the Duty Fleet Manager or their delegate.
* Comply with all safe working practices, depot protection measures, and company health & safety requirements.
* Maintain high standards of depot housekeeping and contribute to a positive safety culture.
* Adhere to instructions and guidance from supervisors and managers.
* Follow industry rules and regulations, including Network Rail standards where applicable.
* Undertake diagnostic reviews and update electronic documentation as required.
* Perform additional duties as required by management.
Qualifications and Experience
* ONC (or higher) qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
* Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
* Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and technical layouts.
* Skilled in systematic fault finding and problem-solving.
* Demonstrated experience in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
* Experience with Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs).
* Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Experience working in a Traction & Rolling Stock (T&RS) depot environment.
* Familiarity with T&RS fleet maintenance operations.
* Willing and able to work a rotating shift pattern (early, late, nights, weekends) and travel to/from work outside of standard public transport hours.
