Job Title: Temporary School Attendance Service Officer Location: Northwest London, Hybrid Working Contract: Temporary, 3 months initially (potential for extension) Hours: Full-time About the Role We are seeking a proactive, organised, and compassionate School Attendance Service Officer to join our Education Services team on a temporary basis. This role plays a vital part in supporting schools, families, and young people to improve school attendance and ensure every child has access to education. Key Responsibilities Working closely with schools to monitor attendance data and identify patterns of concern. Engaging with children, parents, and carers to support improved attendance and address barriers to education. Conducting home visits where necessary to promote positive attendance and ensure pupil welfare. Providing advice, guidance, and support to school staff regarding attendance procedures and best practice. Preparing reports, maintaining accurate case records, and contributing to statutory processes where required. Liaising with internal teams and external agencies to promote safeguarding and coordinated support for pupils and families. Supporting enforcement procedures in line with local authority policy (e.g., penalty notices), where appropriate.About You Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with families and professionals. Is confident working with sensitive information and challenging situations. Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Can work independently as well as part of a team. Has experience in an educational, social care, or community support role (desirable but not essential). Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
