LOCATION: Salford – Dock House, up to 5 days a week depending on business needs
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £49,000 - £58,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the exciting and innovative BBC R&D team and help support the intelligent and passionate people who shape the future of media. As a Senior Support Engineer, you'll provide critical IT support for a cutting-edge Research & Development department. You'll support the staff and ensure the infrastructure which the department runs in is running smoothly and allows the R&D team to do their best work.

Key Responsibilities And Impact
Responding to user queries via tickets, Slack, Teams, phone.
Provide hardware & software support to R&D staff.
Building laptops, desktops and servers using a mix of Jamf Pro and Ansible.
Responding to Information Security queries.
Continuously update & upgrade R&D infrastructure to ensure the best support for our staff.
Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience supporting end-user devices on macOS and Linux (Ubuntu)
Experience in task automation e.g. Ansible
Knowledge of Jamf Pro MDM
Experience working in a data centre / server room environment racking switches, servers, running cables, replacing faulty parts etc.
Proven documentation skills, and the ability to instruct and mentor colleagues.
Desired
IT Service Desk experience – Triage, supporting users of all levels from beginner to advanced, offering hardware and software advice.
Asset Management – Inventory, tracking, decommissioning, software management, licensing, hardware asset lifecycle.
Proven documentation skills, and the ability to instruct and mentor colleagues.
User account management – Creation, modification, deactivation, ensuring appropriate user access controls are in place.
