Hill McGlynn, experts in construction and property recruitment, are proud to be working with a respected and expanding fit-out construction company, currently seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team in Canterbury.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take a senior commercial role within a well-regarded contractor, known for delivering high-end fit-out projects across commercial office spaces, retail, and leisure sectors.
The Role:
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for key projects, overseeing cost management, contractual negotiations, and financial reporting. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring project profitability and building long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Full commercial management of fit-out projects from pre-construction to final account
* Preparing and managing project budgets, cash flow, and cost plans
* Leading procurement processes for subcontractors and suppliers
* Overseeing valuations, variations, and change control
* Producing accurate commercial reports and forecasts
* Providing leadership and mentoring to junior commercial staff
* Supporting the commercial director and senior management team
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, ideally with a background in fast-paced fit-out projects
* Strong contractual knowledge (JCT or similar)
* Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
* Ability to lead projects and manage stakeholder relationships
* Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
