We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join our buying team, based at our Family Office in the Rheged Centre, Penrith. This role will support the Senior Buyer in curating product selections for the Farmshops of Westmorland Services - Tebay, Gloucester, and Cairn Lodge.
As part of the Farmshop Buying Team, you will support daily business needs and long-term projects. Responsibilities include resolving invoice discrepancies, onboarding new suppliers, and other related tasks, such as:
* Managing new suppliers and ranges from launch through the first three monthly reviews, focusing on sales, margin, and operational issues.
* Collaborating with the Visual Merchandiser to create and launch planograms for each site and working with operations to maintain them.
* Maintaining the supplier database, preparing seasonal strategies and presentations, researching new suppliers, and monitoring market trends.
* Communicating with suppliers regarding product details and changes, organizing promotional cycles, and coordinating with the buyer for approvals.
* Reporting on commercial performance, building and running reports weekly, quarterly, or seasonally as needed.
* Analyzing sales, margin, and fixture performance for range reviews, and preparing seasonal strategies and product timelines for key seasons such as Easter, Summer, and Christmas.
We seek someone with relevant experience, proficient in Microsoft Office, capable of multitasking, and confident in taking initiative. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, an excellent communicator, and able to collaborate effectively with both external suppliers and internal teams. Basic analytical and numerical skills, along with knowledge of margins and sales reports, are essential.
