The role
As an Assistant NDT Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of ensuring the integrity and safety of critical defence assets. This is a role where precision matters - your expertise will help maintain the highest standards in engineering and contribute to projects that protect national security. You’ll gain exposure to advanced technologies, work alongside industry experts, and develop your career towards senior Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) qualifications.
Day-to-day you’ll be:
1. Leading on Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality for all NDT operations.
2. Interpreting and evaluating results against codes, standards, and specifications.
3. Supporting the site’s test facility and examination centre.
4. Developing techniques for materials, fabrication, and product technology.
5. Working towards ASNT Level III certifications to advance your expertise.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Friday and is based on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Assistant NDT Engineer
6. Extensive industrial NDT experience with multiple method certifications (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT).
7. Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team.
8. Strong motivation, professionalism, and attention to detail.
9. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
10. Creative approach to delivering training effectively.
Qualifications for the Assistant NDT Engineer
11. As a minimum hold PCN Level II in MT, PT, UT (3.1, 3.2, 3.8, 3.9)
12. ASNT/PCN Level II in MT, PT, UT and VT - Desirable
13. VT PCN Level II - Desirable
14. Experience of Advanced Ultrasonic Techniques – Desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
