Job Description:
We are seeking an Aspiring Youth Outreach Worker to join our team in Kettering. This role is ideal for graduates in Criminology and Psychology interested in education and training within youth justice.
The position involves working with children aged 7-19 who have experienced significant trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges, in a specialist provision setting.
The role emphasizes holistic and restorative practices, fostering empathy and minimizing punitive measures. Manual handling training is required only when necessary, and a practical trial day will be arranged to assess suitability.
Key responsibilities include ensuring student safety, providing support to improve their lives, and demonstrating the value of education. Extensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA, will be provided.
The role involves working with secondary-aged students (11-16) with EHCPs, including Autism, OCD, social anxiety, and other needs. The work is physically demanding and requires pragmatic approaches to make academic progress tailored to each child's context.
You will encounter some anti-social behaviors, which are part of supporting society's most vulnerable children. The training and support from the school are comprehensive.
The role also involves introducing therapies and holistic processes, with a focus on progress, understanding conditions like Pervasive Developmental Disorder and Pathological Demand Avoidance, and engaging students positively to foster acceptance and independence.
