We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and highly organised Junior Criminal Clerk to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage barristers’ diaries with a proactive and commercially aware approach
* Communicate with Crown, Coroners’ and Magistrates’ Courts regarding listings, hearing dates, information requests
* Act as a primary point of contact for solicitors and clients, providing guidance on barrister availability and suitability
* Assist with fee negotiations and effective case allocation across criminal matters
* Adhere to chambers’ clerking standards, systems and procedures; while contributing to their ongoing improvement
* Respond to telephone calls in a prompt and professional manner; and assist with welcoming visitors where required
Requirements
* Approximately 3+ years’ experience in criminal clerking
* Strong understanding of criminal practice, court listing procedures and legal aid billing
* Familiarity with Lex (Opus 2) or similar case management systems
* Excellent organisational and communication abilities
* Confident IT skills with the ability to work across multiple systems
* The ability to work well under pressure and keep a level head in stressful situations
* The ability to use initiative and get ahead of problems before they arise.
