Glasgow Royal Infirmary Emergency Department is seeking a locum consultant to join our passionate, supportive team from 1st February 2025 in a one-year fixed-term maternity cover position. The Emergency Department at Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a dynamic, fast-paced environment providing care for a diverse city population. We deliver consultant-led care 7 days a week until midnight and beyond, with a mix of overnight resident consultant cover and enhanced middle grade cover. Our team includes SAS grade staff, higher specialty trainees, experienced nurses, and junior doctors, managing approximately 98,000 presentations annually.
We pride ourselves on excellent working links with Critical Care, Acute Medicine, surgical teams, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The department is known for high standards of clinical learning, simulation training, and active participation in research trials. As part of the West of Scotland Major Trauma Network, we have a dedicated Trauma Team and strong links with Glasgow University and the Clinical Research Facility.
Applicants must have full GMC registration, a licence to practice, FRCEM or equivalent, and be eligible for the GMC Specialist Register. UK-trained applicants should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR). Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
