University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work as a sleep practitioner in the paediatric neurobehavioural sleep clinic. The role supports children with learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental differences in assessment, diagnosis and management of sleep disorders.
About the Team
The service is a specialist centre for children’s sleep medicine, caring for children aged 1‑18 with chronic sleep disorders. The multidisciplinary team includes consultants, fellows, clinical nurse specialists, sleep physiologists, technicians, psychologists and existing practitioners. The team operates Monday to Friday across face‑to‑face and video consultation platforms, serving families nationwide.
What You’ll Do
* Support lead clinicians in sleep assessment clinics via online video or face‑to‑face settings as appropriate.
* Hold a caseload of up to thirty patients with chronic childhood insomnia, creating individualised sleep intervention programmes.
* Provide telephone and video follow‑up appointments and attend monthly caseload supervision with the senior Band 5 sleep practitioner.
* Participate in the MDT weekly clinical supervision and monthly service team meetings, contributing to service development and learning from journal club.
What We’re Looking For
* Good understanding of child development and child behaviour, with at least two years’ experience working with children with additional needs.
* Experience with autism or sensory integration needs is advantageous.
* Community experience and willingness to work in a constantly changing environment.
* Knowledge of sleep is preferred but will be provided.
* Self‑motivated, flexible, hard‑working, quick learner and a team player.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Relevant qualification: NNEB, CACHE or equivalent.
