Highly computer literate, supporting the Cardiac Systems Manager. The post holder will be responsible for the collation and analysis of data on specific clinical audit and improvement projects and work-streams, providing a statistical base to support clinical audit, inform the research agenda and to aid the development of services.
To support the Cardiac Systems Manager in monitoring and reporting on the progress and impact of action plans resulting from audit and improvement projects.
To offer specialist knowledge and advice to individuals, clinical and multi-professional groups to facilitate the process of further, local project design, the appropriate systems and methodologies required.
With the Cardiac Systems Manager, identify and facilitate the most appropriate mechanism for the communication and feedback of key measures for specific projects and work streams
Under the guidance of the Cardiac Systems Manager the post-holder will support clinical audit projects to the highest standards, ensuring a high profile for the Clinical Audit function within the Health Board and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
Contribute towards the co-ordination of the Health Board's internal Mortality Review processes
Main duties of the job
To become fully familiar with all Information Technology Systems (PATS, McKesson, Solus and SharePoint) in use within the Cardiac Centre.
To become fully familiar with Information Technology Systems (WCP, WPAS, TOMS, EMRA) in use within the Health Board.
To regularly review existing registries, produce data quality profiles with clinicians and take action on missing fields.
To develop and input into follow-up registries to track morbidity and mortality at fixed points following patient events e.g. one-year post C.A.B.G., in association with clinicians.
To perform highly specialised data analysis in all clinical aspects of the Cardiology/Cardiothoracic specialty.To deputise for the Cardiac Systems PACS Manager in their absence.
To support the continual development of all department staff by providing data for consultant appraisals, and doctors training logbooks.To support service modernisation through the implementation of technology (e.g. BI Dashboards)To develop the clinical audit base for the Cardiac Centre, to support the lead clinicians in audit, and to ensure all audit activity is recorded by the Audit Department.
To prepare summary data for audit presentation and be fully conversant with Cardiac IT analysis software.
To liaise with clinicians, directorate Managers, IT, audit departments, Welsh Governing bodies, and networks as necessary.
To support local audit projects dependent on Cardiac Information Technology Systems data retrieval.
