Legal Counsel – IP /Trademarks
Formula 1 stands as a global sports industry giant, boasting a dedicated fan base of over half a billion fans worldwide. The demand for involvement in Formula 1 is reaching unprecedented levels, spanning racegoers, sponsors, broadcasters, and host cities.
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a 1-2 PQE IP lawyer to join the Brand Protection team in Formula 1’s prestigious legal department to help support the enforcement of the F1 brand.
Role Details:
Based in the heart of the West End, this newly created position will report into the Senior Counsel, Brand Protection and work closely with the wider in-house Brand Protection Team on trademark enforcement.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* on enforcement matters, UK and globally, instructing local counsel and reviewing correspondence including cease and desist letters
* and review settlement agreements
* and analysis of IP monitoring and surveillance reports, recommending next steps
* in the response to 3rd party queries in relation to use of the F1 IP
* with senior members of the team on problematic IP files as and when they arise.
* record keeping
* on 3rd party company names surveillance and enforcement
Candidate Profile
You will ideally be between 1-2 years’ PQE, with experience working on contentious and non-contentious trademark matters. You will enjoy working as part of a dynamic, fast paced team and interacting with internal stakeholders and overseas legal associates and certainly be seeking a role where you can develop your experience within an iconic global brand.
We anticipate the successful candidate to have trained in private practice, with in-house experience possibly via secondment being desirable but not essential.
