As an SEN Teacher, you will be central to delivering high-quality, differentiated learning experiences for post-16 students with a range of additional needs, supporting them to reach their full potential and prepare for meaningful futures.
Responsibilities of an SEN Teacher:
* Plan and deliver differentiated, engaging lessons tailored to the needs of post-16 learners with SEND
* Adapt teaching strategies, resources, and materials to meet diverse individual learning needs
* Support students in developing academic, vocational, communication, and independent living skills
* Implement, monitor, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
* Assess and track student progress, providing regular and constructive feedback
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and the wider support team to ensure effective provision
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and a safe, inclusive learning environment
* Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to student support
* Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, interventions, and support strategies
* Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
Requirements of an SEN Teacher:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
* Experience working with post-16 learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is highly desirable
* Strong knowledge of EHCPs, IEPs, and inclusive and differentiated teaching practices
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and behaviour management skills
* A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting young adults with additional needs
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
