We are currently recruiting 2 Support Assistants to join our team in Wickford. The role offers up to 37.5 hours per week, and we are open to both part-time and full-time applicants.
The team provides a supported living care service supporting 4 individuals with learning disabilities. This is a 24-hour service with a mixture of long days, short shifts, and awake night shifts (currently ranging from 7.5 to 12.5 hours, with 11.5 hours for awake nights, subject to change based on customer needs). The shifts include every other weekend and bank holidays.
The home features a private garden for residents and private off-road parking.
Successful applicants will experience a varied daily role and receive excellent training. You will support residents through person-centred care and a range of daily activities to promote a meaningful and fulfilling life. You will help maintain and develop their independence within the home and facilitate access to community activities, empowering each individual to their own level in a 24-hour care setting.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing person-centred support with all aspects of daily living, including personal care and community involvement.
* Maintaining records of support provided and contributing to support planning and reviews.
* Upholding the core values of Respect, One Estuary, Accountability, and Responsibility.
* Participating in delivering a caring, safe, and responsive 24-hour service.
* Developing and maintaining effective professional relationships with residents, families, friends, and advocates.
* Taking shift-leading responsibilities as per the rota.
* Participating in team meetings, supervisions, and other relevant meetings.
* Completing all mandatory training within specified timeframes.
Requirements:
* Understanding and promoting the needs, rights, equality, and diversity of people with disabilities.
* Knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation, and where to find this information.
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including electronic communication.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to administer and reconcile medication.
* Understanding of Learning Disabilities is desirable.
Full training will be provided. Even those new to the sector can succeed after a successful interview, with support to complete the Care Certificate during probation.
