Job Purpose
To supervise, support and motivate the transport team to deliver fresh and frozen products safely, efficiently and in line with customer expectations. Responsible for planning, monitoring and improving transport operations whilst ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company standards, supporting the delivery of Love Joes' vision and values.
Fundamental Duties and Responsibilities
· Lead, manage and be accountable for Class 2 and van drivers, acting as their first point of contact to ensure compliance, engagement and high performance.
· Plan and allocate delivery schedules, assigning days and routes based on geography, traffic, fuel costs and legal vehicle weights to achieve safe and efficient transport.
· Review and process late orders and add-ons, adjusting rounds to guarantee accurate and complete deliveries to all customers.
· Ensure compliance with UK road transport regulations, driver hours, tachographs, vehicle weight restrictions and timely payments for CAZ/ULEZ to embed safe and sustainable practices.
· Monitor and analyse transport performance using fleet software, producing reports for drivers and management to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
· Conduct accident and incident investigations, preparing reports and corrective actions to maintain safety and accountability.
· Collaborate with telesales, production, warehouse and the Loading PM Manager to ensure seamless communication, accurate handovers and excellent customer service.
Job Hours: 10am-6pm
Salary: £33,324
Qualifications
Full UK driving licence (essential).
CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) – desirable but not essential.
Class 2 licence – desirable but not essential.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Proven supervisory experience in transport, fleet management or logistics operations.
Previous experience within refrigerated or foodservice logistics (desirable).
Experience in multi-drop and/or temperature-controlled transport operations (desirable).
Knowledge of UK road transport regulations, tachographs and driver hours.
Understanding of compliance requirements relating to CAZ/ULEZ, vehicle weights and safe transport operations.
Awareness of cross-department collaboration requirements within a supply chain/production environment.
Excellent planning and organisational skills in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.
Effective leadership and people management skills with a hands-on approach.
Strong problem-solving ability with a customer-focused mindset.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with drivers, customers and managers.
Competence in Microsoft Office and transport/fleet management systems.
Additional Requirements
Flexibility on hours – hours will vary dependent on needs of the department.
