Job Title: VAT Compliance Tax Analyst
Our client, a diverse business, requires VAT filings across multiple jurisdictions globally. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic VAT Compliance Tax Analyst to join its International Indirect Tax Compliance team. The Tax Department operates in a fast-paced, team-focused, and dynamic environment. This position will be responsible, as part of a larger team, for preparing EMEA VAT returns and related filings for regions including France, Italy, Spain, and Sweden. Additionally, the role may involve assisting in data provision to tax authorities and other VAT compliance activities related to Amazon or third-party sellers.
Job Training and Responsibilities
The role may include mainstream VAT compliance activities, supporting internal and external audits, and liaising with colleagues in VAT Compliance, Controllership, Tax, and the wider business. A good understanding of financial systems and technical accounting awareness are essential. The role may also involve participating in projects impacting VAT compliance, taking ownership of activities, identifying process improvements, and driving positive change across the organization.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. Prepare, analyze, review, and submit VAT returns for France (FRITES) and Sweden (SE), along with related filings.
2. Prepare, analyze, review, and submit Intrastat and ECSL returns as necessary.
3. Assist with VAT compliance queries from businesses operating across EMEA.
4. Assist in mapping VAT processes, identifying areas for improvement, and proposing solutions.
5. Prepare and review month-end VAT account reconciliations, proactively resolving aged items.
6. Support internal and external audits through data analysis.
7. Provide VAT compliance support to colleagues, especially accounting groups, and contribute to the preparation of Tax Requirement Documents for tech teams.
8. Lead and participate in cross-functional projects focused on automation and in-housing.
9. Support business growth and onboarding of new entities into VAT compliance processes.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting, finance, or a related field.
* Experience working in VAT advisory or compliance, with basic VAT knowledge.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially MS Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of additional languages such as Italian or French is beneficial.
* Recognized accounting or tax qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT, or similar).
