About the Role

The Studio Engineer Intern is an entry-level internship position working under the mentorship of Design Technical Specialists. In this role, you will help create technical solutions for automotive vehicles and other mobility products, including but not limited to exterior, interior, and vehicle architecture components. You will support the design process from early concept through to final model release, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners across Design.

Key Responsibilities

Develop 2D and 3D representations of proposed technical solutions to support the Design vision.
Translate sketches and design intent into feasible engineering solutions using traditional sketching and CAD tools.
Ensure design proposals meet functional, manufacturing, and feasibility constraints under guidance from senior team members.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary design team, including studio engineers, creative designers, sculptors, and fabrication specialists.
Participate in design reviews, providing clear and concise explanations of technical concepts.
Present technical proposals to management and leadership to communicate design intent and solution rationale.
Contribute to the full design development process, from initial concept sketches through clay/digital models and final release surfaces.
Help refine design criteria in collaboration with sculpting and creative design teams to balance aesthetics, package, and engineering requirements.
Track and complete assigned tasks in line with program timelines and deliverables in a deadline-driven environment.
Create new design technical/engineering solutions that deliver on the Design vision and concept targets under general supervision.
Apply creative problem-solving to resolve design packaging, integration, and feasibility challenges.
Maintain awareness of current design, engineering, and CAD technology trends and bring fresh ideas into the studio.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related technical field.
Foundational skills in 2D sketching and 3D CAD (e.g., CATIA, NX, Alias, or similar).
Strong visualization, spatial reasoning, and attention to detail.
Effective communication and teamwork skills in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Ability to work in a deadline-driven setting, managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated interest in automotive design or mobility products (e.g., portfolio, academic projects, competitions).
Experience working with design or studio teams, model building, or fabrication environments.
Familiarity with design processes, from ideation through to design freeze and release.
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and materials used in automotive or product design.

Employees may be assigned additional responsibilities as needed. The company reserves the discretion to revise this job description at any time and require employees to perform other tasks as circumstances or conditions of the company's business, competitive considerations or the work environment changes.

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.
