Main duties of the job
* Work between 6‑8 clinical sessions per week with flexible days and surgery hours negotiated in advance.
* Enjoy 6 weeks annual leave and one week study leave pro‑rata.
* No out‑of‑hours or weekend working.
* Newly qualified GPs are welcome to apply.
Primary Responsibilities
* Deliver highly effective medical care to the patient population.
* Provide services commensurate with the GMS contract.
* Practice generic prescribing in accordance with local and national guidance.
* Effectively manage long‑term conditions.
* Process administrative tasks promptly (referrals, repeat prescription requests, etc.).
* On a rotational basis, undertake the Duty Doctor role.
* Undertake home visits where required.
* Maintain accurate clinical records in line with good practice policy and guidance.
* Identify, implement and embed best practice through clinical guidelines and audit.
* Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
* Assist in achieving practice‑based contractual targets.
* Attend and contribute to practice meetings as required.
* Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.
* Prepare and complete the revalidation process.
* Commit to self‑learning and contribute to the ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.
* Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies.
* Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Secondary Responsibilities
* Participate in practice audits.
* Engage in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
* Review significant and near‑miss events.

Kirkham Health Centre is a well‑established, patient‑centred GP surgery situated in the market town of Kirkham within the Fylde Coast area. We serve a patient population of 9,800, covering a mixed urban and rural area. Our extensive primary care team includes 4 GP Partners, 1 salaried GP, 3 ANPs, 1 paramedic, 4 practice nurses, a healthcare assistant, a trainee nursing associate, a clinical pharmacist, a pharmacy technician, a social prescriber, a mental health practitioner and a supportive administration and reception team. We pride ourselves on being friendly, welcoming and committed to delivering high‑quality care. Our triage is coordinated by our Advanced Nurse Practitioner team, providing excellent access to services. We are active members of our local Primary Care Network, perform well in QOF and hold a “Good” rating from the CQC.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience working in a primary care environment.
* Experience of continued professional development.
* Experience of clinical audit.
* General understanding of the GMS contract.
* Experience of QOF and other contractual targets.
* Experience of local and national initiatives.
Qualifications
* Qualified GP.
* MRCGP.
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP.
* General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
