S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock (part of the Lockwood Group of Companies) specialise in general haulage & distribution in and around the South East of England. We are recruiting for a Keg Yard Operative / Shunter to join our team in Grays, Essex. Shift: Monday - Friday days, 08:00 - 18:00 (47.5 hours per week). Overtime may be required from time to time. Key Responsibilities: Warehouse Operations (Keg Sortation) Operate FLT with clamp attachment to sort and organise kegs safely and efficiently, including the loading and unloading of vehicles. Ensure correct handling, stacking, and movement of kegs within the warehouse. Conduct pre-use inspections of FLT and report any defects or maintenance needs. Maintain accurate records of stock movement and keg sorting activities. Adhere to health & safety regulations and Company procedures at all times. Shunting Safely manoeuvre HGVs within the yard, ensuring trailers are positioned correctly. Conduct vehicle checks before and after use. General Yard Duties Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the yard and warehouse areas. Assist with loading and unloading of goods when necessary. Support other warehouse and transport team members as required. Report any operational or safety concerns to management. To be aware of all Health and Safety issues relating to the post and to ensure compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and associated procedures and guidance including reporting of any incident / accidents. Employees are expected to carry out, in addition to the already mentioned duties, any other duties reasonably expected with the level of responsibilities of the post as determined by management and or Directors.
