Our leading global consulting, construction engineering client is seeking Commercial Managers on a permanent basis to support Severn Trent Water capital delivery projects based out of Tamworth.

The Commercial Manager deliver high-value programmes for water companies and the Environment Agency-with exciting opportunities to support projects in Defence and Nuclear. Reporting to the Water Cost and Commercial Lead, you'll be at the heart of commercial operations-guiding procurement, contract execution, and post-contract delivery across multi-workstream programmes. You'll collaborate with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and supply chain partners to ensure financial transparency, compliance, and performance. Your leadership will help shape smarter, safer, and more resilient infrastructure.
Responsibilities
1. Support work-winning teams by reviewing tender packs and identifying commercial risks
2. Translate insights into actionable cost control strategies and delivery plans
3. Collaborate with planners, PMs, and client stakeholders to ensure financial clarity
4. Oversee contract execution, supplier performance, and risk mitigation
5. Ensure compliance with NEC3/4, FIDIC, UK law, and regulatory frameworks
6. Guide procurement strategy and contract preparation across all phases
7. Foster strong supply chain relationships through performance-based contracts
8. Support construction teams in meeting delivery milestones safely and efficiently
9. Contribute to feasibility studies, benchmarking, and value management
10. Lead cost planning, estimating, and final cost plan presentation
11. Manage post-contract cost variances, valuations, and change control
12. Oversee final account negotiation and post-project evaluation
Skills/experience/qualifications
13. Strong financial modelling and commercial problem-solving skills
14. Excellent client-facing and supply chain engagement abilities
15. Experience managing teams and mentoring junior QSs
16. Sector experience in water, environment, defence, or nuclear - other sectors also considered including Rail.Highways
17. In-depth knowledge of CDM regulations and risk management
18. NEC3/4 contract expertise (Options A, C, E essential)
19. Familiarity with ECI/ESI in design & build programmes
20. Valid CSCS card; Water Hygiene Card desirable
21. Willingness to work on-site at least 3 days per week
22. Right to work in the UK; role subject to client interview and acceptance
Benefits
23. Salary range £65-80k depending on experience
24. Monday - Thursday - 37.5 hour working week (Friday WFH)
25. 26 days holiday, increasing by 1 day for 1 year served and up to 28 after year 3
