Job summary
The Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) is seeking experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioners (Band 6) to join their team.
These roles are part of our Community Transformation Plan and involve implementing the streaming model of care within SCMHT.

Staff wellbeing and professional development are priorities. The role includes full supernumerary status during the initial 4 weeks to support induction. Your skills and career growth will be regularly reviewed through supervision and appraisal. Collaboration with the therapies team will also offer further training opportunities.
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours), with flexible working arrangements available. The role is based at Claire House in Wigan, with travel across the Borough to satellite clinics in Wigan and Leigh expected.
Main duties of the job
The SCMHT provides care, treatment, and support to adults with significant mental health needs in Wigan and Leigh.
Senior Mental Health Practitioners will manage a caseload of patients with severe and complex mental health conditions under the supervision of a Senior Case Manager (Band 7). The team is caring and supportive, comprising Nurse Practitioners, Support Time and Recovery Workers, Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners, and the wider MDT.
Applicants should have experience in a similar setting. We are also open to supporting Band 5 preceptors to develop competencies for promotion to Band 6 within 12 months.
You will undertake care coordination duties, managing caseloads under the CPA framework, providing direct care, and signposting to appropriate services.
You will also handle duty calls from adult service users with severe and enduring mental illness, their carers, friends, and families, primarily offering advice and support.
