Work type: Temporary role for 6 months. Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday between 8:00am–6:00pm.
Role purpose
We have an exciting opportunity for a Change Communications Advisor to join the Change Communications & Engagement team and help deliver the 10-year strategy, ensuring we do what’s right for customers and the environment.

Yorkshire Water serves over 5.4 million people in the region and aims to ensure reliable water and wastewater services while protecting the environment and supporting the community. New environmental legislation, investment, and changing customer expectations create opportunities within the water industry.
Where you fit in
Within the Change Communications team, our goal is to ensure colleagues receive the right message at the right time and in the right way. As a Change Communications Advisor, you’ll manage end-to-end communications and engagement planning for critical change projects and programmes, build robust plans with the Internal Communications team, manage campaigns, engage with suppliers and partners, organise colleague engagement events, create compelling content, and act as a link between programme stakeholders, leaders, and colleagues to tell our story and embed change.
We support the 10-year strategy by helping 5,000 colleagues join the journey, develop the central framework for effective, creative & engaging communications, and maximise engagement across channels.
You’ll work with delivery teams to support colleague-focused engagement, from planning and governance to facilitating conversations and turning learnings into action.
Key responsibilities
* Provide strategic internal communications support on large-scale change programmes to engage and inform colleagues
* Craft narratives that connect Yorkshire Water’s vision and behaviours to operational realities and customer-facing challenges
* Identify and lead improvements across communication channels, enhancing content, delivery methods, and digital capabilities
* Apply strategic thinking to help colleagues understand purpose, impact, and progress of change initiatives
* Strengthen cultural insight via planning, segmentation, and behavioural influence to tailor communications
* Champion colleague-centric content to drive engagement, build trust, and measure value
Skills & qualifications
* Proven background in an internal communications environment; experience managing internal communications plans, strategies, processes, and activities
* Experience managing strategic and tactical communications for change programmes
* Ability to proactively create engaging content; strong storytelling; understanding of audience needs and digital trends
* Excellent communication skills; ability to influence at all levels; experience presenting to diverse audiences
* Strong organisational and project management skills; ability to prioritise and deliver high-quality work on challenging timescales; track record of measuring success
