Role Purpose
The Dorset Combined Youth Justice Service (YJS) is looking to recruit a full time Education Officer to join our stable and supportive team. The ethos of the team is "child first" and all staff have been trained in trauma informed practice and working restoratively.
Main Responsibilities
The role of the Education Officer is to support, challenge, monitor, assess and negotiate the suitability and quality of educational provision for children in the Youth Justice Service. The Education Officer will promote a culture of high aspiration that allows children to achieve their education potential.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a qualified teacher or have other post-graduate education qualifications or will have a degree in a related field with equivalent experience. You will have experience of working in a school or educational setting and will have knowledge of the needs of children in the Youth Justice System.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working with vulnerable children and be able to build positive working relationships with them. You will work alongside your colleagues to provide specialist advice and consultation regarding the educational provision for children working with our service.
This role will require you to have the ability to develop and maintain effective, collaborative, and joint working relationships with a broad range of professionals to ensure obligations are being met and to drive high aspiration and positive outcomes for children, having regard for safeguarding and safety to others.
The Dorset Combined Youth Justice Service is a multi-disciplinary team of skilled and motivated professionals. We are committed to diversifying our workforce and actively welcome a diverse range of applicants. We are a county wide service, and this role covers the whole of Dorset, you will be based in one of our offices in either Dorchester or North Bournemouth.
