PROPOSED SALARY RANGE:£27,300 - £32,500 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Are you a journalist who is passionate about storytelling and wants to join BBC Scotland’s news operation in the impressive Pacific Quay building in Glasgow? BBC Scotland News is the nation's leading news service on television, radio, online, and social media. As a journalist in the digital video and social media team, you would help deliver high-quality stories that really matter to audiences across Scotland.

We are a hard-working team consisting of people with a wide range of ages, from diverse backgrounds, and living in Glasgow and the surrounding towns and villages within commuting distance.
One day we might be involved with on-the-day news and speaking to contributors, and another day we might be working out creative angles for digital videos.
We are passionate about the news agenda and the roles in our team involve varied working hours including day shifts, early shifts (6am start) and late shifts (11pm finish) and some weekends.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
* As part of a team, manage the main BBC Scotland News digital video playlist on the website and social media accounts on Facebook, X and Instagram, while maintaining high editorial standards
* During breaking news situations, under the guidance of editors, help source information from social media, including pictures, videos and contributors.
* Edit breaking news clips with pace and accuracy.
* Cut and edit and shoot videos in a style appropriate for social platforms.
* Work with reporters and correspondents to help them reach a wide audience with their stories, using your audience and social media knowledge.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* Sound editorial judgement when developing story ideas, and accurate and impartial journalism skills
* Team-player who enjoys working with others
* Resilience and determination in getting to the core of stories or finding contributors
* Video production skills and filming and editing experience
* Strong understanding of the Scottish news agenda and how we engage our audiences to turn to BBC News Scotland for their content
