We are looking for a Team Manager to join our large busyteam in Torquay to provide operational leadership for Liaison Psychiatry.
You will become part of a supportive multi-disciplinaryteam, using your skills, experience and leadership to help support the team todeliver a high level of care to people requiring mental health care within TorbayHospital.
The role is fast paced, unique and challenging and we arelooking for someone who is highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic whocan demonstrate an eagerness for the on-going development of the service.
Liaison Psychiatry specialises in the interface betweenmedicine and psychiatry. As a Team Manager you will need excellentcommunication and leadership skills to ensure effective collaborative workingwith acute colleagues in the hospital.
You will have the confidence and skills to support your teamto respond to a variety of referrals. You will support them to thinkholistically in relation to physical and mental health needs of patients. Thesuccessful candidate will need to demonstrate sound experience of riskassessment and management and will be committed to the principles of patientand carer involvement; as well as showing expertise in budgetary management andunderstanding and meeting of key performance criteria.
The role is office based in the South Devon & TorbayMental Health Centre with clinical work occurring in Torbay Hospital.
We offer a relocation package of up to £8k.
Main duties of the job
Liaison Psychiatry accept referrals from Torbay hospital via the inpatient wards and emergency department. These include requests for specialist mental health assessment and interventions to people aged 18 to end of life. The mental health presentations of those accessing our services are varied and include self-harm as well as functional and organic mental illness.
We provide 7 day per week in-and-out-of-hours comprehensive service to patients, clinicians and carers.
We are seeking a visionary and motivated individual to join us at this exciting time, promoting dynamic and innovative ways of working. You need to be a Registered Professional with post reg experience, including experience in a Band 7 position. We will offer you development opportunities alongside the support of a well-established MDT.
You will have a key role in contributing to the leadership of the service and you will provide line management supervision as well as overseeing all operational aspects within the team. The role will have a clinical component alongside operational management.
You will need experience in clinical practice, supervision and operational line management, including HR processes. Working with other agencies, as part of the wider MDT is a vital aspect of this role. You will often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone confident and capable who is able to prioritise tasks, manage your own workload, supporting colleagues as required.
