DWP is seeking to fill a Lead Analyst role within the Contract Management and Partnership Delivery (CMPD) directorate.
The main responsibility of this role is to lead a large analytical division, Contracted Health and Employment Analysis (CHEA), supporting the Director and six Deputy Directors in CMPD. The division aids decision-making, programme design, performance management, and continuous improvement, ensuring the department pays only for the services and outcomes it requires.
The successful candidate will provide critical analytical advice to stakeholders, including Ministers and HMT, supporting decisions on future investments, contract design, procurement, grants, and extensions. They will also collaborate with strategy and policy teams to evaluate service provision and build an evidence base. The role involves leading a geographically dispersed team of approximately 50 professionals across various analytical disciplines, specializing in data and management information.

The role involves setting a clear vision for analytical work in CMPD, collaborating across departments and externally to develop and apply analysis that influences the department's work and decision-making processes. Key programmes include employment initiatives like Restart, supporting hundreds of thousands of individuals at an annual cost of approximately £400m, and the Functional Assessment Service (FAS), which conducts around 2 million assessments annually at over £600m per year.
The Lead Analyst will provide high-level analytical advice to senior officials, including Perm Sec, Ministers, and external bodies such as the National Audit Office and HMT. As a senior civil servant and member of the Senior Analytical Leadership Team, the role also involves leadership in diversity, inclusion, talent development, and departmental culture.
