About the Role:
New opportunity for a dedicated and skilledSenior Supervising Social Worker to join the Fostering Team based in Woking. This is a pivotal role focused on supporting foster carers, promoting positive outcomes for children in care, and ensuring high standards of practice across the fostering service.
You will play a key role in supervising, supporting, and developing foster carers while ensuring the safety and well-being of the children placed in their care. Additionally, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of the fostering service through mentoring colleagues, delivering training, and supporting team development.
Main responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality supervision and support to foster carers, ensuring they are equipped to meet the needs of children in their care.
* Develop strong, trusting relationships with foster carers, offering advice and guidance in line with organisational policies and statutory regulations.
* Undertake regular home visits and maintain accurate records of all supervision and support provided
* Complete robust Form F assessments for prospective foster carers, ensuring thorough analysis and recommendations.
* Support the placement matching process, working collaboratively to identify the best fit for children and foster carers.
* Review placements regularly, ensuring that care plans are effectively implemented and monitored.
* Respond to safeguarding concerns promptly, following established procedures and working closely with multi-agency partners.
* Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans to ensure the safety and well-being of children and carers.
* Act as a mentor for junior team members, offering guidance, support, and reflective practice opportunities.
* Contribute to the delivery of training sessions for foster carers and colleagues, promoting best practices and continuous learning.
* Play an active role in team meetings, sharing knowledge and contributing to service improvement initiatives
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fostering legislation, guidance, and best practices, ensuring compliance in all areas of work.
* Prepare and present high-quality reports for fostering panels, court proceedings, and other relevant forums.
* Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping in line with statutory and organisational requirements
Requirements of the Social Worker:
* A recognised qualification in Social Work (e.g., BA/MA Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or equivalent).
* Current registration with Social Work England (SWE) as a qualified social worker.
* Significant post-qualification experience in fostering or children’s services.
* Proven ability to supervise and support foster carers effectively.
* Experience conducting Form F assessments and matching processes.
* Strong understanding of fostering legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Fostering Services Regulations, and National Minimum Standards for Fostering.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with children, carers, and professionals.
* Ability to manage a complex workload and meet statutory deadlines.
