Civil Enforcement Officer (Night Shift)

Duration: Initial 6‑month assignment (extension possible)
Pay Rates
£17.59 per hour (PAYE)
£23.24 per hour (Umbrella)
The Role
We are recruiting Night Civil Enforcement Officers to support borough‑wide parking enforcement during evening and overnight hours. You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with parking and traffic regulations, maintaining road safety, and providing a visible on‑street presence.
This is a mobile role requiring the use of a council vehicle, so a full UK driving licence is essential.
Working Hours
Monday - Saturday: 7:00pm - 7:00am
Sunday: 4:00pm - 7:00am
Rota-based, averaging 36 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
Patrol on-street and off-street locations across the borough
Enforce parking regulations and issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs)
Use handheld devices to record evidence and complete reports
Drive council vehicles to carry out patrols and transport colleagues
Manage confrontational situations calmly and professionally
Act as a first point of contact for members of the public
Report hazards, missing signs/lines, and street defects
Work closely with supervisors, dispatch, and emergency services as required
Essential Requirements
Full, valid UK driving licence (required to drive council vehicles)
Willingness and ability to work night and weekend shifts
Strong communication and conflict‑management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Basic IT skills (handheld enforcement devices)
Desirable (but not essential)
Previous experience as a Civil Enforcement Officer or in enforcement/security
Parking enforcement qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds / Level 2 Parking Enforcement)
