Job Role & Responsibilities
As a Positive Behavioural Support Practitioner, you will:
Functional Behaviour Assessment & Intervention
* Conduct thorough functional behaviour assessments to identify the causes and functions of behaviours that challenge.
* Design and implement tailored, evidence-based PBS plans that promote proactive and preventative support.
Capacity Building & Training
* Coach, train, and model PBS strategies for staff, carers, and families to ensure consistency and sustainability.
* Provide guidance that supports independence, participation, and the reduction of restrictive practices.
Collaborative Working
* Act as part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing behavioural expertise to care planning.
* Deliver PBS input at universal, targeted, and specialist levels of need.
Monitoring & Evaluation
* Use behavioural data to evaluate intervention effectiveness and adjust support accordingly.
* Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with legal and clinical standards.
Professional Development & Practice
* Engage in supervision, team reflection, and training to ensure ongoing clinical quality.
* Promote ethical, trauma-informed, and rights-based behaviour support in line with PBS best practices.
Who We’re Looking For
* A PBS practitioner with experience working with individuals with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or complex needs.
* Someone skilled in behavioural assessment, analysis, and evidence-based intervention planning.
* A confident communicator and trainer who can empower others to deliver positive support.
* A reflective, ethical professional committed to high-quality, person-centred care.
* Organised and adaptable, able to manage a varied caseload in a remote-working environment.
Requirements
Essential:
* Level 4 qualification or higher in PBS, Applied Behaviour Analysis, or a related field
* Experience conducting functional behaviour assessments and delivering PBS interventions
* Strong report writing and communication skills
* Understanding of safeguarding principles
* Passion for reducing restrictive practices and improving quality of life
Desirable:
* Experience working in MDTs, education, community, or residential care settings
* Behaviour support framework training (e.g., PROACT-SCIPr-UK®, MAPA, CPI)
* Familiarity with behavioural data tools and outcome tracking
* ADOS-2 or ADI-R trained (beneficial but not required)
