We’re recruiting an Assistant Course Manager to join the Greenkeeping team at Tilgate Forest Golf Centre, set within the beautiful Tilgate Forest country park.
Tilgate is entering a phase of investment, ecological stewardship and operational development, and we’re looking for someone who wants to be a genuine partner in shaping the site’s future — not just a second in command.
As part of Lex Leisure and the wider Parkwood Group, you’ll benefit from a diverse network of golf, leisure and outdoor venues with strong opportunities for progression.
What You’ll Be Doing
Course & Site Management
* Supervising Greenkeepers and Rangers
* Managing weekly, monthly and annual maintenance programmes
* Maintaining the Toptracer range, workshops and amenity areas
* Delivering high‑quality playing surfaces
* Hands‑on mowing, spraying, irrigation and renovation
* Supporting ecological and woodland work, including tree safety
Operational Leadership
* Joint planning on daily operations and long‑term strategy
* Leading and motivating the team with clarity and consistency
* Coordinating machinery care, irrigation systems and service contracts
* Ensuring safe systems of work and legislative compliance
* Keyholder duties and site security
Future Projects
* Contributing to drainage and irrigation upgrades
* Helping shape Tilgate’s next phase of development

Preferred Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Sports Turf Maintenance
* PA1/PA2/PA6 spraying qualifications
* Chainsaw qualifications (e.g., CS30/31)
* Experience with modern greenkeeping machinery
* Knowledge of automated irrigation systems
* Strong understanding of health & safety and chemical handling
