SEN Behaviour Mentor – Chelmsford, Essex


About the role

Are you an aspiring Teacher who is keen to gain invaluable, hands-on experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs? Perhaps you are a recent psychology/criminology graduate who is particularly passionate about Behaviour and complex needs? Academics are working with an inclusive, well-respected school based in Chelmsford, Essex. The Head Teacher wishes to appoint a dedicated and genuinely committed SEN Behaviour Mentor to join them from September on a long-term basis.

Location: Chelmsford, Essex

Start: September

Salary: 88-100 per day

Contract: Long-term with the view of going permanent

Opportunities: School's Direct Teacher Training opportunities available

Development: Ample training and CPD courses available


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with the school's pastoral manager to remove barriers to learning experienced by students with special educational needs. This will involve planned outreach in the classroom and leading intervention programmes in the inclusion area. Effective communication with parents/carers/staff and other relevant professionals is an essential part of this role.

This is an incredible opportunity to have a real impact on the progress and well-being of young people.

To support pupils, the successful candidate will:

* Have excellent communication skills
* Have good organisational and interpersonal skills
* Be caring, patient and empathetic
* Be able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative
* Have good literacy and numeracy skills with GCSE literacy and numeracy grades A-C


Requirements

You will be required:

* To ensure all pupils are supported to achieve their unique potential personally and academically
* To work as part of both the SEND team and a curriculum area to remove barriers to learning for individual pupils
* To ensure pupils have the best opportunity to make progress across all areas of the curriculum
