Compliance Specialist £40,604 per annum Location: Hybrid – 2 to 3 days per week in the Barrhead office Contract Type: Ongoing, temporary role
Are you an experienced compliance or finance professional with a strong eye for detail and a passion for continuous improvement? Brightwork are delighted to be supporting a key client who are looking for a Compliance Specialist to lead their Revenues Service Compliance Team and help ensure financial controls, reconciliations, and audit requirements are robust, effective, and consistently delivered.
What you'll be doing: Leading a team of four, providing day-to-day support, 1:1s, and development through quality conversations.
Overseeing all aspects of compliance across the Revenues Service, including Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates (NDR).
Identifying areas of compliance risk or vulnerability and driving the development of corrective action plans.
Ensuring procedures are followed and documentation is up to date, identifying gaps and recommending improvements.
Managing and reporting on reconciliations, including monthly bank, Council Tax, and NDR reconciliations.
Preparing journals, producing reports, and supporting the maintenance of statutory accounting records.
Supporting and tracking audit actions with monthly RAG status reporting to management.
Deputising for the AP/AR and Compliance Manager, including checking high-value payments with oversight from a qualified accountant.
What we're looking for: Strong background in financial compliance, audit support, or revenue services.
Experience managing a team and supporting staff development.
Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
Ability to interpret and implement procedures, manage risk, and improve controls.
Confident communicator, comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels.
