Our Head Office Store Construction Department is strengthening their Commercial Team to meet our ambitious expansion plans. You will be an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Commercial and Tendering Manager responsible for supporting the nationwide delivery of new bottle deposit recycling areas within our existing store portfolio. The role involves extensive work in existing stores and bolstering the reputation of a business that prides itself on sustainability. You will lead pre‑construction tender and design coordination, commercial negotiations, contract management, and nationwide strategy.
What you'll do
* Tendering, appointing and managing DRS (Deposit Return Scheme) construction projects at a national level
* Build and maintain effective working relationships with external contractors, consultants and key contacts
* Support regional teams in the execution of projects through regular meetings, reports and guidance to colleagues
* Liaise with design teams to promote collaborative development and ensure compliance with Lidl specifications
* Monitor quality of appointed national projects through commercial/cost management reporting, KPI reporting and site visits
* Identify and deliver opportunities for cost savings and additional cost mitigation
* Co‑ordinate all internal and external stakeholders and conduct regular reviews of operating procedures making recommendations for improvement
* Deliver effective business communication through review, reporting, briefings, presenting in team meetings and creating executive summaries as appropriate
* Update national procedures, policies and processes and ensure they are effectively communicated and implemented correctly
* Present projects and plans in front of large audiences
* Ensure that all matters that may impact the smooth running of the building are reported to senior management and fixed immediately
* Demonstrate a willingness to travel for site visits on a weekly basis, development days and training
* Regular reporting to Senior Management
What you'll need
* A graduate qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management is desirable but not essential
* Experience in contracts/project management of small to medium construction projects including oversight of the planning process is desirable but not essential
* Sound commercial knowledge with an excellent eye for detail
* Proven negotiation, analytical and problem‑solving skills
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and handle conflicting deadlines
* Strong Google Suite and Project skills
* A full driving licence and flexibility and willingness to travel throughout the UK
