Job Description
The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) is a key role responsible for overseeing legal matters, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic legal advice to senior leadership. The position involves managing external legal advisers, handling corporate governance, supporting major infrastructure projects, and mitigating legal risks. 3. Develop and implement legal strategy aligned with business goals.
4. Provide legal advice to senior leadership and guide governance improvements.
5. Manage external law firms and legal budgets efficiently.
Compliance & Risk Management
6. Ensure regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
7. Identify and mitigate legal risks.
8. Oversee corporate policies and procedures, including whistleblowing and complaints.
Contract Management
9. Oversee major infrastructure contract negotiations and management.
10. Ensure compliance with national security and regulatory requirements.
11. Support land, planning, and consent matters.
Corporate Finance & Governance
12. Support board meetings, corporate governance, and financial legal matters.
13. Implement governance strategies aligned with shareholder agreements.
14. Manage powers of attorney and legal aspects of financial transactions.
Operational Support
15. Provide legal guidance on IT contracts, regulatory issues, and operational agreements.
16. Ensure compliance with transmission system regulations.
17. Handle routine legal matters across departments.
The Successful Applicant
The successful applicant will likely be a senior legal professional looking eager to take on greater responsibility in their first strategic leadership role in which they will have the support to grow over the coming years.
