Nicola Sharkey is a visually impaired Social Worker working with adults in the London Borough of Hillingdon. She is seeking a friendly and reliable support worker to assist her with her work in the community. The job involves working with a range of client groups, including adults with physical disabilities, mental health conditions and older people.
The successful candidate will accompany the Social Worker throughout her working day, travelling from the office (Civic Centre Uxbridge) to clients' homes, care homes, hospitals and other meeting venues as required. The majority of visits are within the north of the London Borough of Hillingdon, covering Ickenham, Ruislip, Northwood and Eastcote. The Support Worker will assist in providing visual information such as reading hospital notes, carers' notes, describing clients' appearance/environment as directed by the social worker. They will also need to assist with administrative tasks in the office which will mostly be computer based. There will be learning opportunities and the support worker will be part of a friendly and dynamic team.
The successful candidate will ideally have an interest in working in Health and Social Care. They will also have excellent inter-personal skills and IT skills.
The post holder will need to undergo a DBS check and they must have a valid driving license. It is preferable that the successful candidate has their own car which they are willing to use for the job.
Initially Nicola is seeking a support worker for 14 hours per week. There is some flexibility how these hours are spread but must be between Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It is possible that the hours could increase in the future. The job pays £16.60 per hour. Travel expenses within working hours are also covered.
