Care Assistant – Ponbay Lodge, Hastings

As a Care Assistant, you will provide the best possible care and support (physically and emotionally) to our residents on a daily/nightly basis. Your responsibilities include personal care, preparing residents for the night, assisting with meals, and providing day‑to‑day social interaction, which is just as important as each individual's physical wellbeing. Being a Care Assistant is a busy role where our residents’ needs will be your top priority.
Key Responsibilities
* Understand and comply with all statutory and legal requirements such as Health & Safety, COSHH, the Health & Social Care Act, and maintain a safe environment throughout the home. Understand and maintain awareness of Infection Control.
* Always be alert to residents’ physical and mental wellbeing, immediately report any changes to a senior person on duty, and accurately maintain and update residents’ records as required.
* Respect and maintain confidentiality of residents’ personal information at all times, including behaviour and incidents that may occur in day‑to‑day care.
* Be understanding and patient towards residents and their needs; encourage, assist and support residents to participate in leisure activities as appropriate, including escorting to outside appointments and leisure outings.
* Responsible for making and changing beds, tidying residents’ rooms (with permission), undertaking light cleaning duties as needed, and ensuring the home remains clean, pleasant and welcoming at all times.
* Be an active and supportive member of the care team, contributing to meetings, ensuring good communication and helping new team members as appropriate, fostering a friendly and supportive working environment.
* Undertake other tasks deemed appropriate by the General Manager.
* Bank Contracts available.
Hourly Rate of Pay: £13.25 (Days) / £13.75 (Nights)
