Job summary


Radiotherapy Equipment Healthcare Assistant Science Higher Level



Main duties of the job


The post holder will be required to:
* Perform checks on treatment machines to ensure they are safe for treatment at the beginning of each clinical day;
* Assist equipment technicians with fault diagnosis and repair;
* Manage stock;
* Track and record the progress of faults.

We provide maintenance and technical support for specialised equipment used for Radiotherapy. The department has six Varian linear accelerators (two Halcyon and four TrueBeam), two Siemens CT scanners, an Xstrahl superficial radiotherapy unit, a Flexitron brachytherapy afterloader, and a Papillon contact radiotherapy machine. Additionally, the team maintains test equipment used for servicing and quality control.

The department was the first Radiotherapy Physics service to gain UKAS accreditation to the emerging BS70000 MPACE quality standard and maintains ISO9001 certification, demonstrating our commitment to high-quality clinical service.

Person Specification


Skills, Knowledge & Ability:
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Organisational skills
* Ability to work accurately under pressure
* Excellent IT skills
* Basic knowledge of radiotherapy/oncology

Experience:
* Teamwork experience
* Ability to work independently
* Understanding when to seek advice
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

Qualifications:
* At least 3 GCSEs at grades A*-C or equivalent
* Level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy
* 3 A Levels at grade B or above (lower grades may be accepted with relevant healthcare science experience)

Additional requirements include a DBS check and eligibility for Skilled Worker sponsorship.
