The post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to patients’ pathway of care. They will work as part of a team, providing expertise in managing the patient pathway from referral to treatment, ensuring smooth processes.
The role requires maintaining high patient and clinician satisfaction by being accessible, customer-focused, and knowledgeable. The post holder will follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure functions are performed correctly within set timescales.

Main duties of the job
1. Process and log all referrals, including paper and Choose and Book, according to Trust policies.
2. Schedule appointments with appropriate clinicians, ensuring capacity is used efficiently, and supervise staff accordingly. Offer patient choices where possible.
3. Ensure diagnostic tests and investigations are requested and available before clinics.
4. Coordinate appointments at other hospitals or organizations as needed.
5. Record clinic outcomes accurately in PAS, including offsite clinics.
6. Complete and process clinic cancellation forms per SOP.
7. Reschedule outpatient clinics to meet waiting time targets.
8. Use the Trust’s transcription system and process urgent letters per SOP.
9. Liaise with records staff, ward clerks, and organizations to ensure medical notes and results are ready for appointments.
10. Recognize patients on cancer pathways and liaise with Cancer Trackers for appropriate handovers.
