About the Role
As the Engineering Manager, you will oversee power engineering operations across Essex and surrounding areas, ensuring the highest levels of safety, equipment availability, and technical performance.
A typical day will involve:
8. Leading engineering standards across multiple depots and supporting local workshop teams
9. Driving a structured repair and maintenance programme for generators and clean-energy battery units
10. Implementing reliability improvements, service schedules, and compliance processes
11. Managing parts control, warranty recovery, and repair tracking processes
12. Developing KPIs and performance dashboards to enhance operational excellence
13. Leading investigations into asset failures and working with suppliers on technical resolutions
14. Supporting apprenticeships, training, and technical upskilling across the fleet
15. Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety and statutory requirements
16. Collaborating with regional teams to optimise resource allocation and customer support
This Engineering Manager position requires a strong mix of technical leadership, people management, and hands-on operational expertise within power generation.
About You
To succeed as an Engineering Manager, you will bring:
17. Strong technical knowledge of generators and clean-energy battery systems
18. Proven leadership experience within power generation, hire, or similar engineering environments
19. Excellent people skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and influence teams
20. A track record of managing multi-site engineering operations
21. Strong analytical skills with confidence in data-driven decision-making
22. IOSH qualification (or willingness to obtain)
23. Full UK driving licence
24. Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and deliver continuous improvement
