About the role:
CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our State and Local Government Client consulting and outsourcing team in our Denver offices. Our SLG outsourcing service helps our clients transform their governmental entity with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.
As a Controller, you will:
* Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.
* Take on the role of consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
* Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
* Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
* Foster and build opportunities and attend industry-leading events and trainings.
* Maintain knowledge of the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
* Advise management on short-term and long term-financial objectives, policies and actions.
What you will need:
* Six years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required. Experience with state and local government municipalities strongly preferred.
* Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
* CPA certification preferred but not required.
* Strong working knowledge of GAAP
* Grants Management Experience preferred.
* Knowledge of MUNIS preferred and/or other commonly used municipal software packages.
* Knowledge of DOR reporting preferred.
* Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required.
The wage range for this position is: 113, ,658.00 USD Annual
Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.
