To be successful as a Security Engineer, you should have the following skills/experience:
* SIEM experience - Azure Sentinel or Splunk (proficiency in writing KQL and SPL; log sources, ingestion patterns, and correlation rules).
* DevOps knowledge (Git / BitBucket / GitLab).
* Security Fundamentals (threat detection, incident response, threat intelligence; knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework and security operations).
Some other highly valued skills may include:
* Scripting - Python, Shell.
* Compliance and governance awareness.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams (security, infrastructure, compliance, etc.).
The role may be based in Knutsford or Glasgow.
Purpose of the role
To develop, implement, and maintain solutions that support the safeguarding of the bank's systems and sensitive information.
Accountabilities
* Provide subject matter expertise on security systems and engineering patterns.
* Develop and implement protocols, algorithms, and software applications to protect sensitive data and systems.
* Manage and protect secrets, ensuring they are securely generated, stored, and used.
* Conduct audits to monitor, identify, and assess vulnerabilities in the bank's infrastructure/software and support responses to security breaches.
* Identify advancements to support innovation and adoption of new cryptographic technologies and techniques.
* Collaborate across the bank, including developers and security teams, to ensure cryptographic solutions align with business objectives, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
* Develop, implement, and maintain Identity and Access Management solutions and systems.
