About the Role
This is a proactive, field-based business development position responsible for the London region, reporting to the Commercial Department. Your primary focus will be identifying and securing new business opportunities, while managing and expanding relationships with existing clients.
Key responsibilities include:
Building strong, long-term relationships through regular site visits, calls, and emails
Targeting new markets such as construction, demolition, manufacturing, automotive dismantlers, and dealers
Developing and updating actionable plans in collaboration with your Line Manager
Managing pricing for standard and non-standard materials, staying informed on market trends
Supporting tenders and maintaining accurate contract documentation
Using company systems for data input, contract management, and communication
Participating in meetings and business reviews, contributing to shared commercial goals
Identifying and liaising with haulage providers and promoting skip services
Deputising for colleagues when required and fulfilling general business duties
About You
You are a results-driven and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills and a strong commercial mindset. You thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.
Essential:
Previous experience in the scrap metal recycling industry
A proven track record in business development and client relationship management
Strong organisational and time management skills
A-level education or equivalent
Proficiency in IT systems relevant to the role
Full, clean UK driving license
Desirable:
Degree or relevant qualifications in business or marketing
Knowledge of environmental and quality standards in metal recycling
Experience with compliance and regulatory practices within the industry
